Improve recovery, reduce food waste, lower costs.

The Nutrai FoodScanner automatically records the plate log and shows what is eaten and what is thrown away. This gives clinics full transparency and enables them to identify malnutrition at an early stage, reduce food waste and cut costs.

This is why clinics trust the FoodScanner

Improved Patient Outcomes

With the FoodScanner, malnutrition can be tracked from day one, instead of after a few days. This means fewer complications, greater safety for patients, and more targeted therapy.

Clinics benefit from up to 40% fewer complications and an average reduction in length of stay of 2.5 days, leading to faster recovery and better treatment outcomes.

Increase efficiency in everyday clinical practice

Relief for nursing staff, nutritional therapy, and the kitchen

Manual food documentation and time-consuming food waste audits are eliminated with the FoodScanner. Instead, what is returned is continuously and automatically recorded – precisely and in real time. This saves nutritional therapy up to 30 minutes per shift and nursing staff up to 225 minutes per patient.
The kitchen also benefits from the clear food waste data. This frees up more time for all professional groups to focus on what matters most: patient care.

Quality assurance & traceability

Automatic documentation of every meal for maximum safety and compliance

With the FoodScanner, every meal is visually recorded, matched with orders, and automatically documented. This ensures complete traceability from the kitchen to the patient. Incorrect issues or dietary errors are immediately detected, and allergies and diets are reliably adhered to. At the same time, the system helps to meet the highest requirements for documentation and audit security according to MDK, HACCP, or ISO, and sustainably reduces complaints.

Sustainable cost savings

Two sources for sustainable savings

The FoodScanner generates financial added value on two levels: medical and operational. Clinics benefit from shorter lengths of stay, fewer complications, and billable DRG additional revenues. At the same time, they save significant costs in the kitchen and in processes through automated plate protocols, more efficient nutritional therapy, and a significant reduction in food waste. The system pays for itself several times over in the first year alone – with annual savings in the millions.

How the FoodScanner Works Live

From the tray to the camera to the dashboard – an insight into everyday clinical practice with FoodScanner.

The FoodScanner
Automated. Precise. Efficient. Reliable.

The most important advantages of automated nutritional monitoring - from cost control to patient safety.

Fully Autonomous Meal Recognition

The FoodScanner cameras automatically record the volume, weight and nutritional values of each meal during dispensing and returns, without the need for manual input. Using barcodes on trays and patient IDs, the data is assigned directly to the correct patient. Clinics thus receive precise, continuous nutritional documentation in real time. The system is directly integrated into the kitchen and works fully autonomously, without affecting the existing kitchen process.

FoodScanner Dashboard

All relevant nutritional data is displayed in the FoodScanner dashboard and fed into the HIS. This allows nutritionists to see in real time how much a patient has eaten and which nutrients they may be lacking. This allows high-risk patients to be identified early and given targeted support. The dashboard provides nutritional information transparently and readily available at all times.

Food Waste Dashboard

The Food Waste Dashboard shows in real time how much food waste is generated and where savings can be made. Thanks to the direct connection to the menu selection system, orders and recipes are automatically compared with the measured return volumes. This gives the kitchen full transparency over the use of food and enables it to specifically reduce overproduction. Sustainability and efficiency go hand in hand.

Quality and Traceability

With the FoodScanner, each meal served is automatically compared with the order to increase food safety. Discrepancies become immediately visible, allowing potential allergies and intolerances to be detected early. The automatic archiving also creates complete documentation, which ensures greater safety and transparency in everyday hospital life.

How the FoodScanner Pays Off for Your Clinic

In just a few clicks, see how much time, costs, and resources your hospital saves with the FoodScanner—from reduced nursing time and avoided food waste to billable DRG additional revenues.

Total Number of Hospital Beds

Please enter the total number of beds in your clinic. This value forms the basis for calculating food waste savings and is used as a simplified assumption for the number of inpatients per year.

40%

Documentation Time Savings

€ 0

Manual documentation costs an average of 9 minutes per patient per day. Automation with the FoodScanner eliminates this effort, making everyday clinical practice noticeably more efficient.

Therapy Time Savings

€ 0

The complete recording of food intake saves time in preparing diagnoses for nutritional therapy and enables more intensive care for at-risk patients.

Food Waste Savings

€ 0

With precise measurement and continuous monitoring, food waste in clinics can be reduced by up to 50%. This not only lowers costs but also increases sustainability in meal management.

DRG and Coding Revenues

€ 0

Through the early detection of malnutrition, additional cases can be correctly coded and billed. Clinics can thus tap into significant revenues that have previously gone unused.

Annual Total Savings

€ 0

CO₂ Reduction

0 kg

Less food waste means fewer emissions in the food chain from cultivation to disposal.

Water Savings

By avoiding unnecessary food production, clinics save millions of liters of water.

Pricing Model with Full Transparency

Our fee includes both hardware and software. Billing is per camera system and is based on the number of beds and meals, so you only pay for the services you actually use.
